How We Align with EHS Home Based
Team Supercrew is a story-based emotional learning program built to give Early Head Start home visitors a simple, low-prep way to open conversations about feelings during visits, and leave families with tools they can keep practicing between visits.
Aligning with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF)
- Social and Emotional Development: Story/Play/Support model directly builds self-regulation, empathy, and relationship skills.
- Language and Communication: Reading and discussing the story together builds vocabulary and gives children words for their feelings.
- Approaches to Learning: Repeated readings and play-based practice build persistence, engagement, and self-control.
- Perceptual, Motor, and Physical Development: Pretend play with plush characters supports fine motor skills through hands-on, imaginative play.
Fitting Into the Home-Based Option
- Supports the required weekly 90-minute home visit through a low-prep, ready-to-use activity.
- Books and plush characters work well in group socialization activities alongside other families.
- Promotes the parent's role as the child's first teacher, a core focus of the Home-Based Option.
- Family Kits give parents a way to continue the learning between visits.
Team Supercrew materials are designed for children ages 2 and up, aligning well with the older end of the Early Head Start Home-Based Option's birth-to-three caseload.
